April 12th: A Music Filled Evening at the McCarl

On Friday, April 12, the McCarl Coverlet Gallery hosted its second ever open mic night. The event, titled “The SVC Coachella Music Festival,” after the yearly Coachella music and art festival hosted in Indio, California, brought performers, music lovers, SVC students and non-SVC students to our beautiful Gallery. This eclectic bunch brought a whole new aura to the McCarl Gallery for the evening, and the McCarl Team had a blast. We think everyone else did too!

There were an array of performers, including ukulele player Aaron Jones and Apollo pop-punk band May’s Landing.  The audience was especially enthusiastic about the performers cover songs. Covers included songs by Of Monsters and Men, Rise Against and Rihanna. Students were also asked to dress up in their best Coachella festival gear. Many students sported flowing, floral dresses, quirky t-shirts and chunky jewelry. Mini egg rolls, cookies and drinks were provided by the Gallery for the audience and performers to munch on in between performances.
